Svitlo Education, in partnership with Qualified Tutor, is inviting you to join us to celebrate The World Tutors’ Day.

Qualified Tutor established World Tutors’ Day in 2020 to raise awareness for the crucial part tutors play in supporting students, their families and the education landscape world wide.

In 2024, the theme is Lifelong Learning.

Svitlo Education wants to use this opportunity to thank all tutors who volunteer at Svitlo school teaching Ukrainian pupils online. 2500 of our pupils have been supported by more than 100 volunteers since March 2022.

We would like to get our former and present volunteers as well as anyone who is thinking about volunteering or just wants to learn more about Svitlo Education's work.

There will be tea, coffee, some nibbles and great chats.

We will then premier a documentary “War on Education” which chronicles the impact of the Russian invasion on education for Ukrainians in and outside of the country. The film by Stefano di Pietro and the EuroClio, the European Association of History Educators, an organisation which is dedicated to improving history education throughout Europe. They share Svitlo Education’s belief in the strong potential of history education to strengthen citizenship and democracy.

The film goes on the ground to give a voice to Ukrainian school teachers, directors, mothers, and soldiers. It features expert interviews from Bob Deen, Coordinator Russia at the Clingendael Institute; Alexander Khrebet, reporter at Kyiv Independent; and Oksen Lisovyi, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science, among others.
