Thomas studied at Norwich School of Art and Design, followed by a three-year degree in illustration at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Just two years after graduating, he created his first commissioned illustration—none other than the cover of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which would become one of the best-selling books of all time. At the time, both Thomas and J.K. Rowling was unknown, and he was paid only £300 for his work. In 2024, this original cover artwork was sold at auction in New York for an impressive £1.52 million.
Thomas's career has since expanded to include both illustration and writing. His most recent series of children's fiction, The Legends of Eerie-on-Sea, has gained worldwide popularity. The books explore the fictional town of Eerie-on-Sea, where strange creatures are always causing mischief and mystery.
