This summer, two of our students Margo and Christie visited England. And they went to a camp called “Discovery summer camp”.
That's how many impressions and emotions Margo received. She will be happy to tell you about her unforgettable experience😍
It was something unreal for me and I couldn't believe my eyes. But yes, it's true. Already on July 19, I was standing with Christie at the airport, with a little excitement about what was waiting for me! I was at Discovery summer camp.
Every day I had lessons, and then free rest. My course was Global young leaders, I have not once regretted that I chose it. After a delicious breakfast, I went to class with David. It was STEM. Several subjects were combined in one subject: physics, biology, chemistry and a little bit of geography.
As a person who is not very friendly with physics, I can say one thing, I fell in love with David's lessons! We worked with magnets, did projects about cookies and more. I also had lessons about business. My project was about recycling clothes. The name of the business was EF revolution (eco-fashion). Also a very interesting and informative lesson.
I cannot but say about the debate. It was incredibly cool to debate on various topics, especially in English!
I think you are tired of reading about lessons. Let's talk about the contests and activities that were there) Spoiler, I participated wherever possible.
There were Olympic games. In a word, sports games. I felt unreal support from the team and friends I had! But guess what, my team won! And it happened repeatedly. We won almost every time!
There were competitions for the best dance, for the one who bursts the balloon the fastest, for the best film, outfit and so on. In a word, each of my evenings was something unique.
I especially loved when we had BBQ evenings. Unbelievably delicious food, the smell of a bonfire and a friendly atmosphere!
There was a bracelet system. They were given for activity in classes, in the camp itself, for help and for a good ability to create a fun environment. They were divided into categories. From those that can be earned the easiest, and those that were considered the most difficult. I collected them all!
We also had many excursions. They were all wonderful and interesting. I want to tell about 2 of them that impressed me the most.
The first was a tour of Winchester's Cathedral. As a person who is fanatical about cathedrals, I can confidently say "it was the most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen."
It was more than a thousands years old, very cool detailing of the ceiling, walls, floor. Unreal beauty )
Another excursion is a trip to London. In general, this was one of my most important childhood dreams !
All the architecture, the atmosphere, everything is as I imagined, even cooler!
I want to say a huge thank you Svitlo for such an unreal opportunity! I received a lot of cool emotions and experiences that I will never forget!!!
That's what Christie says about her experience:
Some memories last till the day you die. My experience at Winchester College, which felt like a breath of fresh air during the dog days of summer, was definitely one of those memories.
The first thing I think of about Winchester College is Oxford class. I have never been to a class like this. I appreciate how for every single lesson, Mr. Marc prepared such intriguing discussions we dove deep into, going anywhere from conspiracy theories and Donald Trump to gender inequality.
Of course, no trip is perfect, and there were times when things didn’t go as planned or days felt too long, but that’s what makes it unique. And with the wonderful people I got to know there, any problem simply evaporated as if it was never there in the first place.
