Not gonna lie, this summer was truly exceptional for all Svitlo students. Including stories of which we will unravel in today’s blog of how Anya and Veronika went to St. Giles Juniors Summer School in Oxford.
Having spent two weeks in such a picturesque and village-like city in central southern England, the girls not only explored its medieval architecture, its biggest shopping mall (yes-yes) and went on various river cruises, but also went to other beautiful places, such as astonishing London, charming Cambridge and many many more! They also met their friend from Svitlo, Angelina, their favorite and most precious teacher Christine Stanley and the founder of the best school in the world - Yuliya Kosko, ON THE SAME DAY!!
For both Veronika and Anya those 14 days went by like a hurricane, not to mention that they made incredible friends with pupils from all over the world, with whom they’re still in contact till this day and will most likely be for the rest of their lives.
But how about we find out what the girls actually think!
Anya: Hello!! My name is Anna, I’m 17 and I’m from Kyiv. Ever since I was 6 my biggest dream was to visit London, the capital of Great Britain😃. It all started when M&M’s World, apparently the biggest store on the planet, appeared in some video on the internet that caught my attention right away. It was an awakening of the dream that was soon to become a reality!! My journey began in Oxford and my experience in this beautiful city was definitely something I will cherish and appreciate for the rest of my life! I am incredibly proud to say that I study at Svitlo School and that I got the chance to visit England and turn my dream into reality. I am also incredibly grateful for the opportunity which St Giles Summer School offered to us, which is two free places to stay there for two weeks.
Veronika: Hii, my name is Veronika, I'm 15 and I'm from Odessa. Visiting the UK was my dream for many years. I especially wanted to visit some small cities, to understand the original culture of the UK. Also I really wanted to see the London Eye, and I am very grateful to Svitlo, for this experience. I really can't put into words how grateful I am to Svitlo for this opportunity, this trip changed a lot in my vision of life. I realized what interests me in terms of my future profession. I also met very interesting people and of course I was very happy to spend time at the camp with Anya. I think that the moments that I lived through, I will remember for a very long time. It really motivated me to move on, to do something, especially in improving my English. I realized that everything is really necessary to strive for your goal and of course work very hard. I remember my first day, it was unforgettable, and in general it was an unforgettable experience, for which I am very grateful!!
