UKRAINIAN LADIES YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT!

Today is one of the important days that women celebrate. And we want to introduce or remind you about smart, beautiful, successful girls. In different spheres of life, who help and inspire people in different parts of the world.

Science 🧮 🧬  

 
1. Maryna Vyazovska, 40 years old. Scope: Maths. 

Winner of the Fields Prize in 2022, the most prestigious award in Mathematics (analogue of the Nobel Prize).  

Proved optimal packing of spheres in 8-dimensional space, which was one of the unsolved problems in mathematics! 

She was the first woman to receive this prize for her own results (only one woman had received the prize as a member of a group of scientists before her).  

2. Olga Brovarets. Field: Molecular Biology, Genetics.

The youngest Doctor of Science in Ukraine (she received her degree at the age of 29). She studies DNA mutations, which is important for understanding the causes of cancer and developing methods of its treatment.

She has published more than 100 scientific papers, her discoveries are recognised by the international scientific community.

3. Lina Kostenko. Sphere: Literature.

Legend of Ukrainian literature, author of the cult novel in verse "Marusya Churai" and many poems.  Active participant of the "sixties", fought for Ukrainian culture in Soviet times.  

Refused the title of Hero of Ukraine, saying that "poets should not get awards". 

 4. Lesya Ukrainka. Sphere: Literature, Culture.

One of the greatest Ukrainian poetesses, playwrights and cultural figures.

Author of "Lisova Pisnya", "Cassandra", "Obsessed" and many poems filled with struggle, freedom and philosophy.

She fought a serious illness (bone tuberculosis) since childhood, but even in hospitals she continued to write. She was not only a talented writer, but also an active public figure, translated Shakespeare, Heine, Homer, and developed Ukrainian culture.


5. Jamala. Scope: Music, Eurovision.

Winner of Eurovision 2016 with the song "1944", which drew the world's attention to the tragedy of the deportation of Crimean Tatars.  

Winner of numerous music awards and a public figure, she actively supports Ukraine in the information war.  

Her musical style combines soul, jazz, electronica and folklore. 

6. Oksana Lyniv. Sphere: Music, Conducting.

The first woman conductor to lead the Bavarian State Opera. She founded LvivMozArt, an international classical music festival in Ukraine.   And in 2021 she became "the first woman in history" to conduct the Bayreuth Festival (the world's premier Wagner festival).

7. Yaroslava Maguchikh. Sphere: Track and field Athletics, High jump.

World champion in high jump (2024).  

Set the world indoor record (2.07 m), becoming one of the best jumpers in history!

Bronze medallist at the 2020 Olympic Games (held in 2021). 

8. Daria Bilodid. Sphere: Judo.

Youngest world champion in judo history (won the title at the age of 17 in 2018).  

Bronze medallist at the 2020 (2021) Olympic Games in Tokyo.  

Included in the list of the world's most successful young athletes.

9. Anastasia Volochai. Sphere: Cybersports, Business

 Co-founder of WePlay Esports, one of the largest cybersports companies in the world. 

Promotes Ukraine as the main centre of cybersports in Europe.  Organised international tournaments with millions of dollars in prize money.  

10. Irina Danilevskaya. Sphere: Fashion, Business.

Founder of Ukrainian Fashion Week, thanks to which Ukrainian fashion reached the world stage. And also the first fashion week in Eastern Europe, created according to Western standards.  

Started the career of many Ukrainian designers, including BEVZA, Ksenia Schnaider, Litkovskaya.

Ukrainian women are strength, talent and inspiration. They are changing the world in science, literature, sports and business, proving that there are no limits to success. Their stories are an example of confidence, perseverance and love for their work. And, no doubt, they have more victories ahead of them!
