YOU`LL NEVER SAY SOS IN ISSOS

December 28, 2024

The United States of America is a dream that almost everyone wants to visit. Famous yellow school buses, houses, that look like dolls' houses, authentic universities, Hollywood, the famous Tesla (who wants to buy it?), the film Home Alone, which will soon appear on our screens, a park in the centre of New York, jazz and very popular hip-hop. Can you believe that...

Hello, everyone!
My name is Liza. I am a student of this wonderful Svitlo School, and I would like to tell you about the summer holidays of two girls in the first person. I hope you will find it interesting. Stay with me.

‘A dream. A dream. A dream. Is it real?’

ISSOS is a 3-week camp for students aged 13-18, which will be held at Yale University's Branford College.

YALE UNIVERSITY!!!!
(Sorry, a little emotional)

♡ ISSOS is Jen Munro, Louise O'Connor, Emma Horner, Kyle Campbell, LiLy, Abby and Jordan, teachers Maya, Julia, Javier, Oven and Met, lovely roommate Maria, Video and Camera men, kitchen staff, who cooked gorgeous food. (Vegetable salad was my favourite one. I ate it every day.)

♡ These are definitely my new friends who I miss very much, but we keep in touch. Guys, if you are reading this ‘Hi! I miss you!’

♡ These are valuable lessons, and there are so many to choose from: ACADEMICS: Business & Entrepreneurship, Creative Writing, Debate, English Language, Study Skills and ELECTIVES: Film, Outdoor Leadership, Photography, Tennis, and Theatre. As everyone say: ‘Choose the one you like’.

♡ These are various activities: we went on a giant cable car, visited huge museums, played various games between clans, participated in various shows, performed with our counselors, sang, danced, did fitness, went for walks, climbed the clock tower (you can imagine how beautiful it is every morning when you wake up and see it from your window) and much more.

♡ These are the libraries and bookstores we used to run to every day.
‘I'm definitely not going to buy anything. I have a lot of books.’
10 minutes later
‘Well, three more books won't make a difference, right?’

♡ And finally, these are the people who make you smile every day

The two lucky ones who got this most valuable opportunity are two girls, one from Zaporizhzhia and the other from the village Bratslav.

These are Nastya and Lisa.
Yes, Liza is the one whose blog you are reading now (I hope you are interested)

And now let's move on to our reviews. How can we leave them, right?

Let's read the story of Nastya, a sunshine girl and a positive person:
My first journey to America felt like stepping into a dream I never dared to have.

As the plane descended, the land below seemed entirely unfamiliar, yet alive with promise. Boston stole my heart instantly — a city bathed in ocean breezes, radiating freedom and warmth. The horizon called to me, and as the wind wrapped around my hands, transforming them into wings, I saw the world anew — from towering buildings to bustling ships and kindred souls. Though we were of different nations, I felt like family, embraced by a comfort I had never known.

America spoke to me with its ocean’s whispers and the words, “In God we trust,” echoing in my thoughts.

I am eternally grateful to my guiding light (Svitlo) for leading me here, for gifting me the chance to converse with the ocean and discover the depths of my soul.

And, this is my feedback:
Ukraine->Poland->Germany->

"Dear passengers, please prepare for boarding. Welcome to the USA. (imagine some cool music here, like in films)

07.02.2024 I'm running home from school because I have to meet our curator Daria soon. I thought we were going to talk about the Buddy System at Svitlo.
I quickly switch on the computer and see Daria, Yuliya and my friend Nastia.
"Do you want to go to America?"
"Oooomaagaaaad. Hahaha, I'm slipping. I just need to pinch myself".

IT'S NOT A JOKE!!!

I couldn't even believe that a seventeen-year-old me would be able to get such an incredibly valuable opportunity. Now I remember it in vivid memories: interesting lessons (especially outside), games, singing under the starry sky, joking, dancing, playing in the theatre, excursions, the ocean breeze, and its wind, delicious donuts, which we bought during the break (we had to be very fast to get them and be on time for class, we managed this challenge), a lot of emotions, watching a film, cool shows,  warm support, communication, shouting chants with our team: "One, we are MacGregor; Two, a little louder; Three, I still can't hear you; Four, more, more, more!" And it is surprising meeting with Svitlo teacher Matthew Krogman.

I have all these memories in my heart and on my painted T-shirt. There are so many signatures.

Svitlo School, ISSOS, all the people involved in this trip, I don't even know how to thank you.

Thank you all so much!

Time for a little secret. Shhhhhhhhhhhh.
Before the flight, we were late for the plane.

Thank you all for reading!
