Andrii Dovbush

Prefect

Age: 17

What city are you from: Molodetske village, Cherkasy region

City in which you live: Molodetske village, Cherkasy region

Started attending Svitlo:

Responsibilities:

  • Buddy: I help new students to adapt, explain how Svitlo operates, and answer any questions the students might have.
  • Mentor for Younger Mini-Prefects for the lesson “Investment Club”: I help mini-prefects understand their duties and teach them discipline and responsibility.
  • Cambria House Council Member: My duties include maintaining the house points table of all house members and monitoring general communication in the group chat.
  • Global Goals Project: I am part of Svitlo’s team in this project, where we work on creating an online and offline library in Ukraine, allowing anyone to borrow an English book for free.
  • Mini-prefect for the lesson "English from Ireland". My responsibilities include keeping a register and monitoring activity in the classroom.

Plans for the future:

First of all, I would like to enter the coveted Bohdan Khmelnytsky Cherkasy University to study translation. I love learning languages so much that I would like to continue doing it after school, but professionally. So in the future, I will strive to become a professional in my field and learn as much as possible.

One sentence to describe Andrii:

If I know and realise why I am doing this, and it also brings me pleasure, then perseverance and consistency will lead me to a winning path

What Svitlo School means to Andrii:

I think it was through Svitlo that I realised that spontaneous decisions can have a big impact on your life. For me, this decision was sending the registration form to this wonderful school, because at the time I had no idea where it would lead me. Here I am doing what I love - learning English in a discussion format; here I have found friends with whom we occasionally chat on Telegram; and here I have found a community of motivated, friendly people who make you feel like a part of one big family. I have my favourite lessons, which I look forward to the most, because I know that every time I go to a lesson, there are pleasant moments that I will remember with a smile for the rest of the day: it is after these moments that I am most glad that I joined Svitlo, because no school has ever given me such emotions. Every morning I start by opening the class schedule and planning my day around it, so I think Svitlo has really had a positive impact on my daily life.

Scholarship from Svitlo:
